  • Leírás: A while before the Greek-Italian war breaks out, a hearty young teacher, Myrto Theodorou, is transferred to a small village to replace the departing teacher who is retiring. Full of passion for teaching and children, she tries to apply new educational methods, with no punishments or beatings; the villagers, however, don’t look favorably on these innovations. The hue and cry peaks when she gets involved with Stefanos, son of the President of the community. On the day of their wedding, the Greek-Italian war breaks out, and the groom leaves right away for the front, where, according to reports, he is killed. During the years of the German Occupation, Myrto stays focused on her work, and enjoys the moral support of an old friend and colleague, Angelos, who has also been transferred to the village. After liberation, Angelos expresses his feelings towards Myrto, and she agrees to marry him. Stefanos, however, wasn’t killed but only injured, and has spent the past several years in a hospital. He now returns and sets things right.
